01 · The short version

Short answer: stomach cellulite comes from the same thing as thigh cellulite, fat pushing up between bands under the skin. It often shows up after weight gain, weight loss or pregnancy, when the skin on the belly is looser. Core and full-body strength work, a stable weight and a caffeine body cream can make it look smoother.

It's less talked about than thigh cellulite, but it's very common.

02 · Why the stomach

The lower belly is one of the main places women store fat, alongside the thighs and buttocks. Where there's more fat under the skin, there's more pushing up between the bands.

Weight change and pregnancy stretch the skin. Thinner, looser skin shows every dip under it, so dimpling appears or gets more obvious afterwards.

03 · Cellulite, loose skin or stretch marks?

Many people have all three. Each responds to different things, so it helps to know which you're looking at.

  • Cellulite: a dimpled, orange-peel surface, more visible when you pinch or sit.
  • Loose skin: soft, crepey or folding skin, common after big weight loss or pregnancy. It hangs rather than dimples.
  • Stretch marks: flat or slightly sunken lines, pink or purple when new and paler later. They're a change in the skin itself.

04 · What helps

  • Strength training for the whole body, not just crunches. You can't spot-reduce belly fat, but more muscle and less overall fat change how the area looks.
  • A steady weight. Big swings stretch the skin again.
  • A caffeine body cream massaged into the stomach twice daily. skincarereceipt Body Butter is made for this: with regular application on the stomach, thighs and buttocks, it visibly reduces the appearance of cellulite. Avocado oil, shea butter and hyaluronic acid also leave the skin softer and smoother-looking.
  • Radiofrequency or similar clinic treatments if loose skin is the main issue.

05 · If you're pregnant or breastfeeding

Check with your doctor before starting any new body cream with active ingredients, including caffeine creams. skincarereceipt Body Butter's own label says to consult a physician if you're pregnant or lactating. Plain moisturizers are a safe default until you've asked.

06 · The science

Stomach cellulite follows the same rules as anywhere else: outward pressure from fat against the hold of the skin and connective bands. Weight change shifts both sides of that balance at once, which is why results after weight loss vary so much from person to person.

Questions people ask

Why do I have cellulite on my stomach?
The belly is a common fat storage area for women, and weight changes or pregnancy loosen the skin there. Fat pushing up between connective bands shows as dimpling.
How do I get rid of cellulite on my stomach?
You can reduce how it looks rather than remove it: full-body strength training, a stable weight and a caffeine body cream massaged in twice daily. Clinic treatments help more with loose skin.
Can I use cellulite cream while pregnant?
Ask your doctor first. Many cellulite creams, including caffeine creams, say to consult a physician if pregnant or breastfeeding.
